Promotional group to host its first event in United States in early 2023
(Cheyenne, WY – December 7, 2022) – After taking the combat sports world by storm in the summer with two ‘Prize Fighting on Ice’ events, Ice Wars International is ready to debut in the United States, as they host Ice Wars III at the Cheyenne Ice & Events Center, in Wyoming.
On May 21 the inaugural Ice Wars event took place at the River Cree Casino in Enoch, Alberta. The event was highlighted by an 8 man Heavyweight ‘King of The Rink’ tournament which saw some of the toughest enforcers on ice, both past and present, battle it out for the coveted Heavyweight Crown. Ultimately ‘Diamond Hands’ Daniel Amesbury walked away King of The Rink. Ice Wars returned for their second installment just two and a half months later on August 6, back at the River Cree Casino in front of a capacity crowd. Both shows were widely acclaimed, and highlights on social media went viral, with some drawing over a million views. Both events were streamed LIVE on PPV with FITE.
President of Ice Wars International A.J. Galante, who has also been in the Professional boxing business for 12 years, says that it was only natural Ice Wars debuted in America in Wyoming first, due to their appreciation and loyalty to the Wyoming Combat Sports Commission. “Loyalty has always been a key component of my life both personally and professionally. When we started Ice Wars, not many people wanted to listen to us or give us a chance. We were able to get our first two shows done because of the support of the Wyoming Combat Sports Commission. This is a combat sport, but I wanted to make sure it was legitimate and as safe as possible for our roster of fighters. Our collaborative work with Executive Director Nick Meeker really helped put everything in place. I knew when we were going to come to the States, it was only right to come to Wyoming, who has always been at the forefront of progression and innovation. They are a state that actually wants to work with you.”
Galante stated that Ice Wars III will yet again center around a ‘King of The Rink’ tournament, along with single ‘grudge match’ bouts. The bout card will be released in the coming weeks. “I expect every show to be better than the last one, and I truly believe Ice Wars III is going to be special!” Galante stated, “We are going to have a night to remember March 4. A huge thank you goes out to Commissioner Bryan Pedersen for believing in our sport and brand, we will not disappoint.”
